Leg Yield

The leg yield is a lateral exercise in which the horse is required to move sideways, with all four feet scissoring or crossing sideways and his shoulders leading. The horse will be looking slightly away from the direction of travel.

The leg yield is one of the first lateral exercises introduced in the training of the horses. It is usually practiced on straight lines going away or towards the side of the arena.
