Reining is a western riding competition for horses where the riders guide the horses through a precise pattern of circles, spins, and stops.

Reining is often considered as the Western form of dressage riding as it requires precision and accuracy of the rider as well as responsiveness of the horse. During competitions, horses and riders are required to complete a set pattern of movement in canter. Each movement is evaluated by a panel of judges.
