With 7-year-old Sienna, Ingrid Klimke practices the dressage test for International eventing competition at 3* level. You will see that the challenge is not only related to the exercises but to the speed in which they come one after the other.

A dressage test is a succession of dressage exercises in walk, trot and canter. At this level of training, the horse is expected to be well established in all steps of the training scale and is tested throughout different exercises such as transitions, half-passes, or counter canter.

In this video, you will see how Ingrid Klimke works on being precise in riding the right line for each exercise. When working on the serpentine in counter canter, she focuses on keeping horse round and correctly bent while preventing the mare from changing to true canter.

You will learn in this video:

  • What Ingrid Klimke thinks when riding dressage tests
  • What a successful dressage test at 3* level looks like
  • What Ingrid Klimke expects when riding the test for the first time
