Ease of Handling Trial with a true World Master! The Lusitano, Trigo, was on the Portuguese World Championship winning Team in Working Equitation and in this video, we watch as together with Vasco Godinho, a pupil of Pedro Torres, they tackle the various obstacles, most of which originates from the work the ranchers and their horses would encounter on a regular basis.

The gate, the bridge, the slalom on a straight line- these obstacles could not be more dissimilar to one another and require not only the trust and willingness of the horse but also the awareness and sensitivity of the rider. No one can help so well more than the multiple World Champion, Pedro Torres. Learn how the single elements are broken down and how one should train for this in order to achieve a rhythmical, smooth and impressive round, and why riding elegantly can make such a difference.

He does the flying changes with ease, steps easily backwards through the corridor after ringing the bell and transitions within the gaits are done almost playfully- and all with just one hand! At the advanced level, the entire trial is ridden with one hand. Enjoy watching the art that is Working Equitation as World Champion Bruno Pica rides Trinco through an Advanced level display for us.

You will learn in this video:

  • Why so much emphasis is continually placed on keeping the horse confident and relaxed during the training of Working Equitation
  • How to break down and refine the required movements on an experienced horse
  • What to concentrate on with your position when riding certain parts of the course
