Basics of dressage – Exercises for a 4-year-old horse 2018-05-10T00:00:00+02:00

Ingrid Klimke starts after the 10-minute walk phase with Cavaletti to improve the attention and agility of the stallion. In the warm-up phase, she shows you how to ride your horse in the correct rhythm and stretching the neck forward and downwards, and explains how important it is for further dressage exercises.

About the carrying and the correct half halt: "I do not want to bustle, that's his job, that he trots actively on the circle”. Look at how Ingrid motivates the stallion to produce an active tempo without having to keep pushing. The half-halt is also a decisive exercise for proper dressage. Ingrid explains exactly how it works.

The goal in the work phase: taking more weight behind and trying to work with the poll as the highest point. Ingrid shows you which exercises in walk, trot, and canter she does during her dressage training and how to react when your horse stiffens or becomes crooked.

You will learn in this video:

  • How you can improve the impulsion of your horse
  • How to give half halts correctly and react more subtly to your horse
  • Refresh your knowledge of the basic dressage exercises for your daily training
