The warm-up phase in show jumping training is decisive for the whole jumping lesson. Eva Deimel’s tip: Let the trainer help you. The idea is to sensitize the horse to the helps, to develop a regular canter rhythm and to keep a relaxed attitude. Eva Deimel shows her student Sophia how she overcomes two cavalettis on a straight line on the third hoofbeat. The main goals: turn early enough, properly control the outside of the horse and develop a feeling for the correct number of strides.

Landing in the right canter is a challenge for many show jumpers. In this video, Eva Deimel will show you which exercises to train to make you safer. It is important that you don’t bend in the hip, but only load the inner stirrup a little bit more with your weight. Why does your mental looseness play such a big role when you are jumping?
