Cross country is an equestrian discipline in which horses and riders are required to jump over natural obstacles such as logs or ditches placed on natural terrain.
Cross country is the star test of the eventing discipline. During this phase, horses and riders are required to complete a course of various cross country obstacles, in a delimited amount of time. Refusals, as well as going over the allocated time result in penalty points. Too many refusals, a fall, or riding dangerously result in the elimination of horse and rider from the competition.
